After 7 days the dog is signed over to Leigh Dogs and Cats Home Ltd so that they can find it a new home. The homes description of the strays in their care may not match yours so visit them to see if they have your dog or cat. Click here for more information on what to do if you have lost your dog. Statement by Leigh Dogs and Cats Home Ltd: "We do not put any animals to sleep to make room for other dogs. Animals are only put to sleep if they are sick or injured or if they are an illegal breed. This is now actually less than 4% of the animals brought in to us. The final decision for any animal to be put to sleep is made by a Veterinary Surgeon. We care very much about the animals in our care and do our utmost to make sure that they are well cared for whilst in our kennels.
